| Conversion | Formula | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Centimeters to inches | in = cm ÷ 2.54 | 30 cm = 11.811 in |
| Inches to centimeters | cm = in × 2.54 | 12 in = 30.48 cm |
| Kilograms to pounds | lb = kg × 2.20462 | 70 kg = 154.32 lb |
| Pounds to kilograms | kg = lb × 0.453592 | 150 lb = 68.039 kg |
| Celsius to Fahrenheit | °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 | 25 °C = 77 °F |
| Fahrenheit to Celsius | °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9 | 98.6 °F = 37 °C |
| Kilometers to miles | mi = km × 0.621371 | 10 km = 6.2137 mi |
| Feet to meters | m = ft × 0.3048 | 6 ft = 1.8288 m |
| Liters to US gallons | gal = L ÷ 3.78541 | 20 L = 5.2834 gal |
| Megabytes to gigabytes | GB = MB ÷ 1,000 | 2,500 MB = 2.5 GB |
| PSI to bar | bar = psi × 0.0689476 | 32 psi = 2.2063 bar |
| Square feet to square meters | m² = ft² × 0.092903 | 1,000 ft² = 92.903 m² |
Metric vs imperial: which one uses what?
Most of the world uses the metric system (SI units) of meters, grams and liters, scaled by powers of ten. The United States mainly uses US customary units (inches, pounds, gallons, °F), and the UK mixes both, with miles on road signs and stones for body weight. Since 1959, imperial units have been defined through metric ones. That is why 1 inch is exactly 2.54 cm and conversions can be exact rather than approximate.
Decimal vs binary data units
Storage makers count in powers of 1,000 (1 GB = 1,000 MB), while Windows reports sizes in powers of 1,024 (1 GiB = 1,024 MiB). That gap is why a new 1 TB drive shows about 931 GB. Panglify's data storage converter offers both systems, clearly labelled.
Accurate conversions built on exact standards
Many converters round early or use outdated factors. Panglify uses the internationally agreed definition of each unit and keeps full precision until the last digit.
Exact definitions
Factors follow the SI system and NIST Handbook 44, such as 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly.
The formula, always shown
Each result shows the math behind it, so you can check it and learn it.
Private by design
Everything runs on your device. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.

The story behind the numbers
Clear, well-researched explainers for the questions converters alone can’t answer.
Why Does a 1 TB Drive Show Only 931 GB? Decimal vs Binary Storage Explained
Nothing is missing from your new drive. Makers count in decimal terabytes and Windows counts in binary gibibytes, and the difference grows with every prefix.
Metric vs imperial: why the US still uses inches, pounds and Fahrenheit
America's inches and pounds have been defined by the meter and kilogram since 1893. Here is why the switch was never finished, how US and UK units differ, and how to convert with confidence.
Dry vs liquid measuring cups: why a cup of flour isn't 8 ounces
A cup marked 8 oz holds 8 fluid ounces of volume, but a cup of flour weighs only about 4.2 ounces. Here is why, and how to switch your recipes to grams.
Is Panglify free to use?
Yes. Every converter and calculator on Panglify is free, with no account, login or payment required.
How accurate are the conversions?
Each converter uses the exact internationally agreed definition of the unit, such as 1 inch = 2.54 cm and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg, and shows the formula so you can check the math.
Is 1 GB equal to 1,000 MB or 1,024 MB?
In the decimal (SI) system used by drive makers and networks, 1 GB = 1,000 MB. In the binary system used by many operating systems, 1 GiB = 1,024 MiB. Panglify offers both.
Can I convert cups to grams for cooking?
Yes. Because a cup measures volume and grams measure weight, the answer depends on the ingredient. Our cooking converter uses ingredient densities, so a cup of flour and a cup of sugar give different gram values.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Panglify runs entirely in your browser on phone, tablet or desktop. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
How many centimeters are in an inch?
Exactly 2.54 centimeters. The inch has been defined as 2.54 cm since the 1959 International Yard and Pound Agreement, so 1 cm = 0.3937 in.
How do you convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply by 9/5 and add 32. For example, 20 °C = 68 °F and 37 °C = 98.6 °F. To go back, subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9.
How many pounds are in a kilogram?
1 kilogram = 2.2046 pounds (2.2046226218 lb). The pound is defined as exactly 0.45359237 kg.
What is the difference between US customary and imperial units?
They share names but not always sizes. A US gallon is 3.785411784 L and an imperial gallon is 4.54609 L, and a US fluid ounce is 29.5735 mL against 28.4131 mL. The inch, foot, yard, mile and pound are identical in both systems.
